Arts and Crafts Activity Break – April 2021

This month we saw the return of our Nutley Edge activity breaks and kicked off 2021 with a brilliant arts and craft packed week!

We arrived on Easter Monday, along with the sun and enjoyed a lovely Easter roast cooked by Gary the chef. On Tuesday guests created some beautiful mosaic coasters and hand painted fabric bags and danced the afternoon away with an impromptu music / sing along session. On Wednesday guests painted some great canvas and ceramic Easter Egg plant pots and enjoyed a session of musical bingo. On Thursday we welcomed back So Sussex forestry school and guests made felted dragon eggs and some beautiful Silver Birch tree paintings. We played games in the afternoon and then our usual last night Karaoke disco! We finished the week with Michelle and Jackie from Nutley Edge judging the art created in the week and everyone then enjoyed cream teas before heading back to London.

We also received a lovely compliment from a Tower Hamlets based social worker this month:

“My service user is fun loving and friendly but needs to be supported in a very person-centred way because of his dislike of change and his need for structure and routine. Florence and the team made him and his family feel so comfortable and even on his first trip he seemed so happy. The Nutley Edge breaks are a great resource which enable people with learning disabilities to have breaks away from home which they truly enjoy. They also work with families well, offering re-assurance, transparent risk assessment and putting the person at the centre of the experience. They are a great alternative to conventional respite services.”
