Last week, we welcomed guests to our first arts and crafts holiday of the year at Nutley Edge, and what a wonderful week it was. With the sunshine shining down on us, the holiday was packed with creativity, laughter, activities, and memorable moments.
We began the week with a lovely afternoon tea at Nutley Edge, followed by a much-anticipated Easter egg hunt. In the afternoon, guests took part in an Easter arts workshop, before rounding off the day with a roast chicken dinner and a relaxing evening watching Harry Potter.
Tuesday was a full day of arts and crafts workshops. To mark Autism Awareness Month, guests painted tote bags in celebration of the important work Outward has done supporting autistic people for over 50 years. In the afternoon, the creativity continued with another workshop where we painted key rings and puzzles. Of course, no Nutley Edge holiday would be complete without our usual karaoke night, which brought the day to a fun finish.
On Wednesday, the group headed to Brighton for a day trip. The day started with a visit to Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, where guests enjoyed exploring the exhibits, taking part in activities, and dressing up for some silly photos. Afterwards, some of the group went shopping, while others enjoyed a walk along the pier. The day ended with a delicious dinner at a Mexican restaurant by the sea.
Thursday brought a special visit from Bel at the Forest School. Together, we decorated butterflies for a structure we are making for our bug hotel and created leaf imprints in clay using plants found in the forest. In the evening, guests were able to relax and enjoy the sunshine and peaceful surroundings at Nutley Edge, before receiving their certificates for completing the holiday.
The final day of the holiday ended with a visit to East Grinstead Museum, where guests learned more about the history of the town and, once again, had some fun dressing up for photos.
Overall, it was a lovely week filled with creativity, sunshine, and plenty of smiles. There were even a few tears on departure day, as some guests had made new friends along the way, hopefully friends for life.
