About the Role
We are now looking for enthusiastic, creative and committed individuals to join the team working in our Young People’s Service. The young people referred to our service face many challenges and deserve an enthusiastic staff team committed to supporting them to look forward to a promising future. A key element of this waking night post is to ensure the schemes remain safe and secure for all the residents. We also require all our staff to have empathy with the issues young people face and therefore strong applicants will have some experience of supporting young people to address issues such as low self-esteem, managing conflict and their own personal safety, particularly in relation to their night time activities and managing the behaviour of their guests. If you feel you have these skills and experience, and can bring a fresh approach and a commitment to supporting young people to meet their full potential, then we want to hear from you.
Areas of work include:
• Carry out night patrol duties within the Hackney Young Peoples Service.
• Maximise the safety and security of young people and the schemes during the night.
• Provide support to the young people during the shift.
• Be based at one scheme for the shift, and respond to emergencies at other Outward YP schemes, which may necessitate visiting.
• Complete building checks at the beginning, during and end of each shift and record on the handover notes any concerns and tasks to be actioned. If emergency repairs arise during your shift, report to the landlord’s repairs service and give access to contractors.
• During every shift, keep communal areas tidy and free from clutter / litter; clean all communal areas once a week.

We are looking for 2 flexi staff to become a regular part of the Young People’s Team, to provide cover for the Waking Night Service, when the fixed staff are on annual leave or sick. All posts will involve working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be provided with comprehensive training and be supported every step of the way to develop your career with us.
