Befriender

The suitable Befriender will undergo appropriate training beforehand, to ensure that they are fully trained/informed, and they will shadow a member of staff for the first month of befriending. There is opportunity for the Befriender to access a paid role in supporting the gentleman if the matching goes well.

Outward will cover ‘Out of Pocket’ expenses which include travel and lunch (if the volunteer is spending more than 5 hours during their session). Support and supervision will be offered throughout from the scheme manager and the volunteering team. Volunteers will never be asked to support with personal care, finances or medication. Please note from April 2022, Outward will require all face to face volunteers to demonstrate a COVID vaccination pass, or proof of exemption.
