Support Worker
Location: Supported Living Service, Hackney, London E5
3 x Fixed Posts Full Time 38 hours per week
Flexible Zero Hours contracts available as well
Salary: £21,497 (£10.85/hour) moving up to £21,835 (£11.05/ hour) from 1st May 2022
About the role
We are looking for people to join our supported living service in Hackney, providing support for young adults with autism and learning disabilities, to transition them into adulthood and independence while living in their own flat.
We offer a workplace environment where you will be gaining experience through hands-on support work, administration, and exposure to a variety of health professionals, families, and the intricate individuality of every service user you will support. Whether you are a student studying a degree in a relevant field, or looking for a job that will provide you with the chance to gain a wide range of experience in the sector of support work, this role is for you.
Although experience in support work is ideal, this position is suitable to anyone who would enjoy the challenge of facilitating a better quality of life for people with disabilities who are often excluded from society. If you have experience in your private life with supporting these individuals, this is also beneficial.
You need to be energetic, as we love to support our service users to access the community and get physical exercise. You also need to be an open and skilful communicator, to build positive relationships not only with your service users, but their families, friends and health professionals.
Although your days could be filled with exciting and fulfilling tasks where you are supporting your service users to achieve a better quality of life, there will also be days where your service users may present with complex and challenging behaviours due to their disabilities, and you need to be a positive and resilient worker to face these challenges.
If you hold a British driver’s license, or hold a full license in another country and are willing to exchange it for a British one, this is highly desirable, as we need support workers who will be willing and capable of driving our service users around London.
