What is a Nutley Edge Activity Break?
Nutley Edge Activity Breaks are Outward’s supported holidays for adults with learning disabilities and autism. They are five days, four nights and take place at our beautiful holiday site in East Sussex. Every break is themed and guests take part in a range of activities such as archery, art, music, yoga, and day trips to local towns, cities, and historical sites. Our breaks give guests the opportunity to get away for a holiday, meet new people, and explore the best of East Sussex.

What is the role of a Support Worker?
You will support guests in every part of their break and as dedicated, engaging and energetic staff you will ensure our guests get the most out of their time with us.
As a support worker you will support guests to, from and during our activity breaks which take place at least once a month. Support staff meet guests either at our East London office where we are collected by a minibus or at the first activity on route to Nutley Edge (usually in Kent or East Sussex.)
During the activity breaks food and your own room is provided and an additional sleep in payment for each night supporting a break is paid. Support staff are paid for 12 hours of support per day at £11.95, for 5 days plus 4 sleep-ins.
We are a London based charity and welcome applicants for this role on the understanding they are able to support a minimum of 3 breaks throughout a year (providing day and overnight support for 5 days / 4 nights at a time in East Sussex), are able to travel to our North East London offices to attend meetings and occasional training sessions. We run 20 breaks a year in total.

What qualities and experience should the ideal candidate have?
We are looking for somebody who has:
• Experience supporting people with a learning disability, autism, and complex needs (including behaviours of concern)
• Excellent communication skills
• Creativity and flexibility, with experience of dealing with the unexpected
• A commitment to providing high quality and personalised active support
• Someone who enjoys being involved in activities and skilled in encouraging guests to try new things out and get the most from their holiday
• A commitment to upholding the rights of Guests to be involved at all levels of decision making.
• A driving licence and willingness to drive a minibus is desirable
