Work for us

Outward's Apprenticeship Programme gives you the opportunity to gain work experience in the social care sector whilst receiving an income.

The Apprenticeship Programme lasts for 12-15 months (depending on initial assessment of English and Maths) with flexible start dates. It is a combination of paid work experience (38 hours per week) and a vocational qualification Diploma in Health and Social Care, Care Certificate, Level 1 Functional Skills qualification in Maths and English and also an Apprenticeship Certificate.

You will be able to gain experience across a range of client groups, including people with learning disabilities, older people, people with mental health issues and autism spectrum conditions, to give you the right experience and skills for a career in social care.

We will place our apprentices in roles in various locations across North and East London.

Future Prospects

During the first three months of your work, you will be shadowing an experienced colleague and all through your apprenticeship work experience will be required to work alongside a buddy full-time. You will not be allocated clients until after this three month period has been completed successfully.

Upon completion of your apprenticeship work experience, you will have the opportunity to make a career in the Health & Social Care Sector and become an adult support worker with Outward, a charity employing over 500 people across North and East London. On successful completion of the first 12 months of your apprenticeship, you will also be eligible for a £250 voucher award, paid by Outward.

We will also provide plenty of learning and development opportunities for your career advancement.

Some of the other benefits of working for us as an apprentice include:

•   Induction training
•   A rolling programme of skills development and legally-compliant training
•   25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time contracts)
•   An occupational sick-pay scheme
