Job description:

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Team Manager, with extensive experience of working with adults with a learning disability and autism to join Outward. The service is located in vibrant Hackney and consists of 4 newly renovated self-contained flats designed to maximise independence. This is a rare opportunity to build and develop a newly opened service, offering people with autism the opportunity to have their own flat and to thrive and enjoy a good quality of life.

 Outward’s autism specialist services have a strong reputation across North East London, where we support people with autism to live the lives they choose. Supported by Outward’s Positive Behaviour Support Lead, you will create a culture of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) with physical and social environments that are personalised and supportive, teaching people new skills and ways of communicating.

 About the role

  • You will market the service to identify and assess new referrals
  • Building a strong relationship with professionals and stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a positive and resilient team of support workers to deliver high quality and personalised support
  • You will be responsible for ensuring supported hours are delivered innovatively and that there is flexibly to meet the needs of the people we support
  • Budget for the service and explore how new technologies can help you do this
  • Guide the team to develop support plans and risk assessments that reflects the persons we supports needs and desires 
  • You will also be responsible for ensuring the service is safe, effective, caring, well led responsive and managed to meet CQCs criteria for a minimum of good service and with the achievement of becoming outstanding.

 About You

  • You will have management experience of working in a similar setting you will have developed the skills you need to engage and motivate teams to provide creative and flexible services  that make a positive difference to people’s lives.
  • You will be organised and have an eye for detail which ensures a consistent, transparent and professional services that people we support and professionals can depend on.
  • You will have the emotional and physical resilience to meet the challenges of working in an environment that at times may be challenging and take difficult decisions in managing an effective team.
  • You will be an excellent communicator liaising effectively with key stakeholders including the multi-disciplinary and health professionals, family carers and people we support.
  • You will be able to easily interpret and apply policy into practice, including principles and practices of safeguarding adults at risk, budget management, Mental Capacity Act.
  • Leading by example you will uphold the rights of people we support to be involved at all levels of decision making.
  • You will share our values and passion to engage, enable and empower people with a learning disability to lead the lives they want.
