Shelley joined the Outward Board in September 2014 and is currently taking a sabbatical from a two-decade corporate career in strategic communications and organisational change. She is pursuing a career change to work in the arts and non-profit sectors, and is also training to become a volunteer counsellor for Childiline. During her professional life, Shelley has worked across multiple communication disciplines, including several years in public relations as well as marketing and employee communications, and has deep expertise in supporting organisations through complex transformation.
Shelley is originally from Northern Ireland and studied International Business and Languages at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. She completed an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation at LSE in 2018, and has worked and lived in New York and France. She has a WSET Advanced certificate in wine and is currently learning Spanish. Her other interests include politics, art, yoga, live music and travel.
