We are able to meet the needs of individuals
Outward provides a range of services for adults with learning disabilities across north and east London. We have seven registered care homes, a full range of independent living services and two outreach services
Outward’s registered care homes vary in size and are designed to meet the needs both of the group and of each individual. We have care homes to meet specific needs such as for older service users with mobility difficulties and services that are gender specific. Within our registered care homes, as with our other services, we are able to meet the needs of individuals who challenge the service.
Outward’s independent living services provide a genuine alternative to residential care for people who want to live more independently. Our individual support packages range from a few hours per week to twenty-four hours per day – to meet the needs of each individual.
Outward’s outreach teams are based in Waltham Forest and Tower Hamlets and provide support, again, across north and east London. Both teams are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection to provide domiciliary care services.
The outreach services have grown considerably in recent years, providing a needs-led service with an excellent reputation. Alongside these services, we provide day activities, consisting of music groups, art, photography and gardening. Service users are able to take advantage of Outward’s social events, including weekly social groups and ‘Eastsiders’, an independent social group funded by Outward.
To meet the specific and often complex needs of a number of our service users, we endeavour to provide the appropriate support to enable them to live fulfilled lives. One example of this is through ‘autism accreditation’, a specialised accreditation system from the National Autistic Society. Through this, services are awarded accreditation by meeting the needs of people with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), including Asperger’s syndrome. This quality assurance system ensures staff have the knowledge, training, support and understanding of ASD to qualify for accreditation each year. We are proud to be the only organisation to have an autism accredited outreach service.
