Older People

Floating Support is a service that provides housing related support to older people to enable them to maintain their independence in their own home. This kind of support service helps the individual to become more independent, and may mean that they can continue to live independently at home when with out support it would be difficult to do so.

Helping Older People to Live Independently

Our team provide one-to-one support within the home. We come to you. The service is free at the point of use and is funded by the local authority – so no bills to worry about. If you are over 55 years of age and live in The London Boroughs of Hackney or Redbridge then you could be eligible.

Operating during the day the service is completely flexible and it’s up to you how much support you need. We will work with you to find out what you need and how best we can support you. So whether it’s a single visit to help you with something specific or something longer term, we are here to help.

Examples of how we can support you:

 ·     Housing benefits claims and benefits advice

·     Housing problems and rent arrears

·     Neighbour disputes

·     Finding local activities and training/employment

·     Budgeting and financial advice

·     Staying active and healthy

The service does not provide 24 hour support, personal care or domestic help – although it can help you to be assessed for those services.

How to get Support

In The London Borough of Redbridge the service is provided by Outward. In Hackney the service is a partnership between Outward, Family Mosaic, Hanover and One Support – all well established service providers.
