I used to live in a room in a shared house in Leyton. When I lived in this house, I had problems with the people I shared with.
I spoke to my support workers and my housing officer about this and asked if I could live somewhere else.
I looked at the house where I live now and the participation officer listened to me and helped me to decide if I wanted to live here. Outward provided me with a support worker from the Outreach team to work with me so that I would be working with someone I know. I moved into this house in 2006. Outward helped me to organise the move. I am very happy here.
I now live in a registered care home, the house has staff all day and all night. Outward make sure the house is in good repair and will fix things that are broken.
Staff will help me to change my clothes, keep clean, make my meals, keep my room clean and tidy and do my own shopping.
Staff help me to do as much as I can for myself and to make my own choices.
I do lots of different things like going out and about, I go to a lunch club 4 days a week, I go to the music group every week and I like the drama group and the monthly social.
As I gain confidence again, I might want to move back to living in a flat with less support and out of residential care. To do this, I will need a lot of support with cooking, cleaning and personal care. I am thinking about what I want from my future and talking to Outward about what support they can give me.
